Chris Isaak is going to release a collection of songs recorded live on his last Australian tour as his next album.
‘Chris Isaak - Live In Australia’ was recorded during the 2006 tour with his band Silvertone. The new album will also come with a new deal. Isaak has jumped ship from Warner to Universal.
“I’m really excited about my new record label. The people at Universal Records in Australia are hard working and tops in their field,” Chris said in a statement. “But boy do I have them fooled,” he added.
ësaak is no stranger to the Aussie land or sea, for that matter. “They haven’t realised that me making a live record in Australia just gives me one more reason to come back to a place I love! I wonder if surf wax and sunscreen is deductable as a recording expense? I am counting down the days until I return!”
Those days will be November. Isaak will be back in Australia in time for another Melbourne Cup. (He was at the Cup in 2006 and will attend the 2008 race).
Australia is Isaak’s best market and he has thanked the people at Warner for his success down under. “I want to sincerely thank Warner Music Australia’s past and present staff for all their dedicated work and for the memorable times we shared,” he said. “I am genuinely looking forward to this new chapter in partnership with George Ash and his team at Universal Music and look forward to a rewarding and enduring musical journey. And maybe surfing some waves as well!”
A new studio album from Chris Isaak will also be released by Universal in 2009.
