Kings of Leon are the Kings of ARIA this week after dethroning Metallica`s Death Magnetic after just one week.
The Kings of Leon album ‘Only By The Night’ sold 35805 units in Australia last week, compared to Metallica’s second full week of sales with 21,045 units.As well as having the number one album, Kings of Leon’s previous albums ‘Because of the Times’ and ‘Aha Shake Heartbreak’ are also in the Aussie top 30, adding a further 3757 sales to help go towards their Ferrari payments.
Last week, ‘Only By The Night’ sold 4751 units because stores broke the embargo and put it on sale early.
Counting the presales, ‘Only By The Night’ has become the third fastest selling album of the year, behind ‘Death Magnetic’s’ first week effort and Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’.
Metallica’s additional 21,000 plus sales puts total sales of ‘Death Magnetic’ in Australia at 81,771 units. Platinum in Australia is 70,000.
