Pink Floyd`s David Gilmour paid tribute to his late mate Rick Wright on a special episode of Later With Jools Holland this week.
Waters performed one of Wright’s very early songs ‘Remember A Day’ on the show. The song was first heard back in 1968 on the Saucerful of Secrets album, the album before Gilmour joined the band.
The show with Gilmour has been booked a month ago and Richard Wright was going to appear as well.
Wright cancelled his appearance via a text message to Gilmour. He died last week.
Gilmour told Holland that he first met Wright in 1965. He described him as “shy and quiet”.
Wright appeared on Gilmour’s last studio album ‘On An Island’ and performed with him on the recent Live in Gdansk event, now out on CD and DVD.
Live In Gdansk, as it happened, is a document of Wright’s last ever public appearance.
