Australia’s lesser known politicians seems to have their knickers in a knot this week after suggestions that the Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is planning on meeting up with one of the countries most successful exports Missy Higgins in New York (even though his office says he is not).
National Party leader Barnaby Joyce and independent senator Nick Xenophon couldn’t wait to get a few column inches in the newspapers whining about the possible meeting of the Prime Minister and the Pop Star.Xenophon moaned that he hadn’t had a meeting with the Prime Minister yet he was going to meet up with Missy.
Rudd and Higgins will certainly both be in New York next week at the same time. Joyce and Xenophon seemed to have missed the point that the PM is in NYC for the United Nations General Assembly Meeting (not that the world economy has any relevance to Australia, hey guys).
On September 30, Missy Higgins will perform at an instore with New York Times best-selling author Harlan Coben. Coben will be reading from his forthcoming book. Higgins received a name-check in his last book ‘Hold Tight’. She will sing her song ‘Where I Stood’, mentioned in the book.
If Mr Rudd decides to head along to the instore, I am sure Mr Coben and Ms Higgins will graciously sign and book and CD for him.
