J.D. Fortune`s solo album is not that far away. Undercover asked the all-important question last week, “Whatever happened to J.D. Fortune”?
We can tell you that J.D. Fortune is alive and well and living in Canada and he is about to release his debut solo album ‘The Death of the Motivational Speaker’.Fortune had been writing and recording at the home of Canadian star Dave Gunning this year.
He told Anne and Gene on hometown 94.1 East Coast FM that he has been looking for a record company to release the album. “I’ve been looking for a record deal that would suit my style of music,” he said. “For you up and coming artists out there, sometimes it is not worthwhile shopping to a label that just does hip-hop if you are a country artist. What you need to do first is this weird dance where they tell you they really like your stuff and you tell them “I really like your record company”. That’s great, but I have been trying to find my home for this record and I’ve narrowed it down to a couple of companies”.
Fortune says the guys from INXS have been his biggest supporters for the solo project. “They are in Australia and have been supportive and encouraging me to do this next record `The Death of The Motivational Speaker`. They have been my biggest fans, obviously because they picked me to be in their band,” he said. “They loved what I was doing then and they love what I am doing now. I owe my musical chops to those guys. I went to 50 countries and played 300 and somewhat shows and sold close to 4 million tickets worldwide. That is a pretty big deal”.
J.D. will also be heading out live soon. He will be one of the supports for AC/DC’s forthcoming tour. He expects to do a few shows with Elton John and he also has a couple of shows with Alanis Morissette.
`The Death of the Motivational Speaker` is yet to be scheduled for release but Fortune wants to get it out this year.
