The Script`s cover of David Bowie`s `Heroes` has been chosen as the official track for the 2012 London Olympics.
The Scottish band has been performing the Bowie song at their gigs in their encore.Dailyrecord.co.uk reports that the band was surprised to hear of their score, as they originally recorded the song as a joke.
"We wanted to cover it because we just thought it was a great song. It`s the only cover we`ve ever done and we can`t believe it`s just been taken on for the Olympics," singer Danny O`Donoghue told the Daily Record.
This is the second time a cover of Bowie's 'Heroes' has been used an an Olympic Games. For the Sydney Olympics in 2000, the Icehouse version of 'Heroes' was used to promote the games.
The news was the second good thing that happened for them this week. Guitarist Mark Sheehan and his wife Reena had their first child this week as well.
