Hit songwriter and performer Alan O`Day is preparing for the release of his first album in 28 years. It will be called `I Hear Voices`.
The `Undercover Angel`, `Rock and Roll Heaven` songwriter tells Undercover News that he has taken `I Hear Voices` from the spiritual to the quirky. “Being a songwriter, I like to offer a variety to my audience, and I`m excited for the opportunity to once again share my work with my fans, old and new,” he says.At the spiritual end of the album, Alan says, “One song honors a real person, a talented painter named Kaziah, who, not being able to have children of her own, several years ago took it upon herself to paint a loving portrait of a fallen soldier, from a photo sent her by his grieving family. Now, over 500 portraits later, she`s still answering these requests, at no cost to the families. What a labor of love”.
Another song is called `Your Song Sucks`. It contains some common sense for aspiring writers. “It describes a scenario that is repeated often in the world of aspiring songwriters,” he says. “With little experience and high hopes, they write a song that, to them, is absolutely perfect. Convinced that this is their ticket to the big time, they rush to find a recording studio, where they spend lotsa bucks to create a big production "demo" of their masterpiece. They`re so inspired by their own work that it didn`t occur to them to play the song for someone with "professional ears" first, before emptying their wallet”.
Alan describes `I Hear Voices` as the album that he always wanted to make.
It will be released on September 15.
