Memphis congressman Steve Cohen has called on the City of Memphis to change the name of the local airport to Isaac Hayes airport.
Hayes, who died 10 days again, was buried yesterday in the city.As a mark of respect to one of the cities greatest musical talents, Cohen wants Hayes name attached to the airport.
He is drafting a letter to City Council members, City Commissioners and the mayors of Memphis and Shelby.
He is also asking Lisa-Marie Presley to support the move.
The move is not without precedent. New Orleans now has the Louis Armstrong International Airport. Burbank is the Bob Hope Airport and in England, Liverpool has the John Lennon Airport.
