Icelandic alternative pop queen Bjork will reunite with her old band The Sugarcubes.
This year marks the 20th birthday celebrations for the band (and eighteen years since the release of their breakthrough single, 'Birthday'), despite the fact that the Elvin lead singer has been a remarkably successful solo artist for the last fourteen years.A press release stated that the band will convene in Reykjavik, Iceland on November 17 for a one-off concert. Airline and travel company Icelandair has even set up a special package for fans. The concert will be a benefit for the prestigious non-profit Icelandic record label Smekkleysa SM (meaning "Bad Taste"), which was created by Sugarcubes co-founder Einar Orn Benediktsson, releasing music from Bjork, Emiliana Torrini, Gusgus, Sigur Ros and more.
The Sugarcubes' career lasted six years, from 1986 to 1992. They released three studio albums, which all amazingly managed to hit top 20 in the UK, plus a remixes collection called 'It's It' and a cheekily titled Greatest Hits dubbed 'The Great Crossover Potential'.
There is no word as yet about any other concerts in or outside Iceland for the band.
