Stripe is the latest new media company in Australia.
The company today announced the launch of 30 new radio stations, to be broadcast on the 3G network.Stripe is the first subscription radio service offered in Australia, although in the USA, they have the subscription based satellite radio networks XM and Sirius.
One of the founders of Stripe is music and media businessman Glenn Wheatley. Wheatley was the bass player in Masters Apprentices and went on to manager the careers of John Farnham and Delta Goodrem.
Jarrod Graetz, head of programming for Stripe said in a statement, ``We are proud to launch Stripe in Australia - this huge range of listener driven, genre specific radio stations. A great advantage of our service is that you don`t need a new device or gadget to hear us. If you`ve got 3G coverage, you can access your favourite music and programs from your (3G) mobile phone, and of course on broadband internet. No ad breaks, less interruptions, more music. We position ourselves as `What you want on radio` because we believe Stripe delivers what Australia wants.`
Stripe`s initial content offering will be the stations Hit Launcher, Aus Top 50, Psychedelic 60s, Superstar 70s, Absolute 80s, Totally 90s, The Noughties, Pop Hits, Hot Mix, Hip Hop Culture, J-Pop Jam (Japanese Pop), Love n Light, Solid Gold, 20/Twenty, Modern Rock, Classic Rock, Deep Cuts, Urban Beat, Club Hits, Work Out, Real Country, Naked, Rhythm n Soul, Symphony Hall, Tranceonica, Disco Fever, Soft Jazz, Party Hits, Chill Out and Metal.
The service will cost around $10 a month.
