Abkco Music, the publisher of the early Rolling Stones material, has presented Lil Wayne with a lawsuit for copyright infringement.
Abkco allege that the song `Playing With Fire` from Wayne`s `The Carter III` album is an altered version of the Rolling Stones song. (Actually, they are too kind, it is the song). The lawsuit filed in Manhattan is seeking damages for the use of the song and unfair competition.
The Abkco suit claims the song was altered to include `explicit, sexist and offensive language`. That part of the suit is a bit of a joke. The Stones by their very nature were explicit, sexist and offensive in their day.
Lil Wayne is yet to comment on the action.
