Coldplay`s `Viva La Vida` album has turned over its 4th week as the number one album in Australia and it is probably going to be there again next week.
`Viva La Vida` has now sold more than 100,000 units in Australia, 15,661 in the last week alone. As a digital release, it is still by far the biggest selling album with 1,345 downloads sold last week compared to the number two digital seller, Beck`s `Modern Guilt` with 20 sales.
Coldplay has the market to themselves over the next few weeks so it will more likely die of old age than be beaten by a new blockbuster. There is no major competition on the way in coming weeks, except for possibly the new Miley Cyrus album soon.
The number two album in Australia this week was Hillsong`s `This Is Our God`. The Hillsong sales came mostly from their convention in Sydney. Of the 11,819 sales registered last week, 10,076 came from New South Wales. This week, with no convention, there will be next to no sales. `This Is Our God` will go to God on next week`s chart. After this week`s number two debut, next week it will be out of the top 20.
The only other top 10 debuts on the Australian chart this week were Birds of Tokyo `Universe` with 5309 units sold and the `Mamma Mia` soundtrack on 5118 sales.
Beck`s `Modern Guilt` debuted at number 13. Frank Sinatra`s `Nothing But The Best` came in at no. 16.
