The Bangles will be heading back to Australia for the first time in a long time.
Melbourne scores a double header at The Palms at Crown Casino with two dates for October 8 and 9.The Bangles formed in 1981 when Susanna Hoffs teamed up with sisters Vicki and Debbi Peterson. Annette Zilinskas joined them soon after on bass. Michael Steele played bass until 2005.
The first album ‘All Over The Place’ was released in 1984. The video for the song ‘Liverpool’ starred Star Trek’s Spock, Leonard Nimoy.
The big hit came a few years later when Prince gave them ‘Manic Monday’. That same year they also went to number 1 with ‘Walk Like An Egyptian’.
More hits followed with ‘Eternal Flame’ and the Simon and Garfunkel cover ‘Hazy Shade Of Winter’ also making the charts, but being sidetracked by Susanna Hoffs solo career was too much for the group and they disbanded.
Susanna later married director Jay Roach (Austin Powers) and ironically it was Jay who got them back together to record the song ‘Get The Girl’ for ‘Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me’.
In 2000, they rolled out a tour.
The last album for The Bangles was ‘Doll Revolution’ in 2003. In 2007, they released the DVD ‘Return To Bangleonia’.
