The world famous Capitol Studios in Hollywood, CA are under threat from noise.
The studio, which in housed within the instantly recognisable cylindrical Capitol building is right next door to a soon to be started construction site that will possibly send reverberations through the building and into the echo chambers, rendering them useless.According to the Guardian, David Jordon, co-owner of Second Street Ventures, the company behind the construction said, "We have no desire to create any negativity toward Capitol Records. Our design is to enhance and protect this iconic building and the area around it."
They insist they will only do loud construction and demolition between 7 and 10am.
But the folks at Capitol insist that not only will the construction itself be a problem, but once the huge cavity of a carpark is dug out from under the building, the structural resonance of the whole block will be changed, thus changing the sound of the echo chambers.
The echo chambers were partly designed by electronics and guitar wizard Les Paul and have been used by everyone from The Beatles to Frank Sinatra.
