Paul McCartney played a show on the weekend at London’s famed 100 Club after hearing it was under threat of closure.
The 300 capacity venue billed the show as ‘A Packed Lunch At The 100 Club’ and it was undoubtedly the most packed the venue has been in years.
"Small clubs remind me of when we began – this song is from before we began,” he said, describing ‘The One After 909, which despite being on The Beatles’ last album was one of the first albums McCartney wrote with John Lennon. "Well, it was a long time ago,” he said after a small screw up during the intro.
“Do you wanna save the 100 Club? Speak to Mr. Hundred,” he said. Esoteric suggestions aside, if you want to save the 100 Club, go there, buy a drink and watch some music.
McCartney, true to form, dived into his hefty back catalogue of classics from his solo albums, as well as The Beatles and Wings.
The set opened with ‘Matchbox’ - a Carl Perkins song The Beatles included in their repertoire in the very early days, followed by a set list that would have ensured a singalong during every moment of the two hour show.
The set list was:

All My Loving
