Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy has been released on bail after assaulting a member of the audience.
McCoy was arrested at the end of his gig at the Verizon Wireless Ampitheater in St Louis, on Tuesday (July 1) after reacting to a crowd member that called him a 'f****** ignorant n*****.'As security removed the man, McCoy asked 'What did you just call me'' before smashing his microphone across the man's head.
Rolling Stone reports that Travis immediately apologised to the crowd, but justified his reaction.
He said: "I'm sorry, but when someone calls you something that ignorant and offensive, you have to bash their head in with a microphone.'
Gym Class Heroes' new album, The Quilt, is due for release on September 9.
