Queensland singer/songwriter has developed her new album 'Real Life Computer Game' off the back on a grant awarded to her by Arts Australia.
"I think Real Life Computer Game is the first recording I have done which has truly captured the essence of who I am musically. Part of this was being awarded a grant by Arts Queensland which allowed me a budget to pay other muso's and to take my time," she tells Undercover News.Ben Stewart produced the album. "Ben is a multi-talented artist who has produced albums for The Boat People, Hot Liquid Sex, Melissa Forbes, Eleanor Angel and many many more! Ben will be playing with me in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, up and down the Qld Coast and hopefully Tasmania," she says.
'Real Life Computer Game' is an interesting title. "While watching a documentary one night I was captivated by a scene of a woman talking about her life after she had just been told she was dying of cancer," she says. "The things that she held close to her heart was the people she loved and who loved her back - the connections she had made along her journey. I think sometimes in life we can forget about these things and worry too much about "making it". In order to do this sometimes we feel the need to "play each other" to get to the next level - a real life computer game. I have seen this happen many times in the music industry and for a period I felt like I could easily fall in to this trap too. I think I subconsciously wanted to call my album Real Life Computer Game to always remind me about what truly matters in my life".
Emma is about to take the show on the road to promote the release of the album.
