Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls is kicking off her world tour with two very special gigs in her hometown of Boston with the revered Boston Pops Orchestra at Symphony Hall.
Palmer's songs will be arranged for the orchestra by Pat Hollenbeck, the in-house arranger for the orchestra and will be conducted by Keith Lockhart.Palmer said of the event "I'm doing something that my parents can show the neighbours, that the neighbours will understand."
Hollenbeck added, "I only listened to some of the Dresden Dolls' music when we were talking about doing this, and my first thought was "Hmmm, is this going to work?" but as I listen more and more to Amanda's solo work I really think it's going to be fascinating."
The shows are part of Edge-Fest, which according to Hollenbeck is designed to bring people into Symphony Hall who wouldn't usually see that as a music venue for them.
Palmer's solo album 'Who Killed Amanda Palmer?' will be out in September.
Some of these shows are solo, and some are with drummer Brian Vigrioli as The Dresden Dolls.
