Aussie music legend Russell Morris maintained a position on the Independent chart this week despite sales mainly coming from one store.
'Jumpstart Diary', the first album of new material from Morris in more than 15 years, was at No. 64 nationally and at No. 16 on the NSW/ACT chart. The success of 'Jumpstart Diary' is being driven by Songland Records in Canberra. "Russell's new album is the strongest record of his career and my customers recognised that very quickly," says Songland owner Brian 'Frog' Harris. "In a musical world where too many weak albums are taking the spotlight away from the genuine great ones, Songland, like most independent stores, are doing the job of ensuring music fans are being continually introduced to -excuse the pun-the real thing".
Morris wrote and recorded the 'Jumpstart Diary' album over the last two years with Peter Robinson, of Electric Mary. Robinson also produced the album.
The album is available from Songland or call 02 62934677.
