Ex-pat Aussie, now US resident, Sam Sparro was named after Sydney radio announcer Gary O'Callaghan's on-air character Sammy Sparrow.
Singer/Songwriter Sam Sparro was born Sam Falson but was nicknamed Sammy Sparro as a kid.The originally Sammy Sparrow, the fictional bird that flew into Garry O'Callaghan's studio every morning in the 60s on radio 2UE, at one stage had the highest radio ratings in the country.
Sam Sparro moved to LA at age 10. His father, Chris Falson, is a minister and composer. He has written music for Star Trek and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
The younger Sam has also starred in TV commercials.
Sam recently released his debut single 'Black and Gold' and scored an instant number two hit in the UK.
He will tour Australia is July, with a show in Melbourne at Miss Libertine on July 11 and in Sydney at Oxford Art Factory on July 16.
