Greg Graffin, frontman for veteran punks Bad Religion, is now a professor of evolution and has had a bird fossil named after him.
The singer has long been an academic, picking up a PhD in Zoology and occasionally lecturing on life sciences and paleontology at UCLA.
Now, according to a press release from Bad Religion’s label Epitaph, he’s returning to Cornell University to teach a course on evolution that he developed.
In addition to this, a bird fossil recently discovered in China has been named after him – the Qiliana Graffini – but keep the age jokes to a minimum, please.
As for Bad Religion, now in their thirtieth year, Graffin has said that the band’s output and touring will be pretty scarce from now on.
