Sydney's loveable pop prince Ben Lee has scored an upcoming film entitled 'The Square'.
The fitting film suits the nerdy musician, who was approached by longtime friend, and director of the film Nash Edgerton to write the score."Nash sent me the script to the Square and I really, really loved it. I stayed up reading it from midnight until the early hours as it was such a page turner," Lee said in a statement.
"I loved how its darkness was juxtaposed against a large romantic element - it was really tense yet had a romantic heart. I knew immediately that this was a project my music was truly suited to - not my voice, necessarily, but certainly my musical vision."
Helping him out on vocals is Jessica Chapnik, who is probably best known for her character Sam Tolhurst on Home and Away, but has performed with Sarah Blasko, Old Man River and The Kahn Brothers for many years.
The single, which will appear in the closing credits of the film was written about five years ago with Angie Hart.
The soundtrack will be released on July 19. The film will premiere at the Sydney Film Festival on June 15, and be in cinemas nationwide from July 31.
