Peter Gabriel is behind the new UK music site The Filter, which launched today in London.
The tech savvy Gabriel has been involved for years in new technology. With The Filter, Gabriel and crew have designed a means to narrow down the amount of music information available on the Internet and make recommendations based on your personal music choices.
Gabriel founded the site with jazz fan Martin Hopkins.
The idea is to filter music based on your mood. The songs The Filter recommends may be unknown to the user of totally forgotten.
"The internet, which I think is an amazing creation, provides access to an ocean of limitless information, but without filtering it's easy to drown," Gabriel, 58, told The Press Association. "But if you have this little friend on your shoulder, that can pick out music to listen to and films to look it, it's something I would use provided I could steer it a little."
