Former Beatle Paul McCartney has returned to his home city of Liverpool, heading up a gig in front of 36,000 fans.
The singer played for almost two hours and included songs from right across his nearly fifty year career.Speaking to the Liverpool Advertiser, he shot down the rumour that Ringo Starr was going to join him on stage saying, "That was never going to be on the cards."
The Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts will benefit from the gig, which McCartney had set up in his old school.
Other bands on the bill included Dave Grohl, The Zutons and the Kaiser Chiefs.
