Rick Springfield is preparing for the release of 'Venus In Overdrive', his first album of new material in 5 years.
He says the album will be a return to his 80's hit sound of the 'Working Class Dog' album. That was the album that gave us the hits 'Jessie's Girl' and 'I've Done Everything For You'. "I think we should have called this CD 'Son of Working Class Dog.' It has the same kind of songs (from a slightly older perspective) and was as exciting to record ... ... writing and recording these songs has been the most fun I've had in the studio since the early '80s," he said in a statementSpringfield recorded the new album in a record 32 days. "It is an album about love in all its forms, and since Venus is the goddess of love, it's called 'Venus In Overdrive'. There is a lot of personal stuff in these songs but we have tried to craft them so they still have a universal voice. We are older, yet still teenagers, we have lost people we love and still love the people who are on our journey with us, we are angry at some of the crap in the world yet love our human failings."
'Venus In Overdrive' will be released in July.
