Could it be that two of Disney's iconic characters, Prince Eric and Aerial, are going to be wed? Well, almost. Brian Duckworth, who plays Prince Eric in the Disney On Ice show and Melanie Carrington, who is Aerial in the show, are engaged to be married.
Brian has told Undercover News that it is very much the two people who will be married. They are not planning on getting dressed up in character for their big day.Brian and Melanie are two of the stars of Disney On Ice presents 'Mickey & Minnie's Amazing Journey'. They have been touring the world with the production.
Brian has performed in 38 countries since joining Disney On Ice 12 years ago. "Since I joined we have toured South America, Central America, North America, Europe, South-East Asia and Australia," he says.
That's not a bad gig for a guy who prior to becoming a Disney On Ice star was stacking shelves in a Melbourne supermarket. "I was a duty manager at Coles doing the night-shift," he says. "It was actually a great job for a sporting career. I could skate in the afternoon and work at night".
Brian was born in the Melbourne suburb of Dandenong and grew up in Noble Park. It was a long way from his global job as a Disney star. "My parents still live in Rochester," he says. In fact, he still owns the same car he has had for 20 years. "It is a 1980 Toyota Celica. I am the second owner of the car. It is garaged at my parent's house. Every month, they turn on the engine to make sure it still runs."
The new production of Disney On Ice brings together 5 shows. Peter Pan, The Lion King, Little Mermaid, Lilo & Stitch and 101 Dalmatians.
