Iconic rock animal Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead has spoken about his rockabilly side project The Head Cat.
The band, featuring Lemmy on vocals, acoustic guitar and harmonica, Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom and Lonesome Spurs guitarist Danny B Harvey, released an all covers album called 'Fool's Paradise' in 2006. Leaning heavily on Buddy Holly tunes, with interpretations of Elvis, Johnny Cash and other rock standards, the band proclaim on that the project was intended "to remind the world how rock 'n' roll is supposed to f*ckin sound."The 60 year old rock icon told Billboard, "Without those songs, there wouldn't be any Motorhead. Those are my influences right there," going on to speculate, "Heavy metal is what Eddie Cochran would be doing now if he was still around."
With Motorhead recently celebrating their thirtieth anniversary and their twenty-third album, 'Kiss Of Death', Lemmy also stated that even after a recent health scare, that threatened to leave him missing a foot, he'll keep on playing. "As long as I can walk around and move my arms and legs, I'll be around. If I have to stop, then I'll stop. Until then, you'll be seeing me."
