R. Kelly is finally going to face the court of a 2002 child sex allegation.
Despite a "not guilty" plea, Kelly's lawyers have fought hard to delay the case. Their most recent attempt to delay was Thursday, but this time it didn't work.Kelly is up on child sex charges relating to an incident with a 13-year-old girl in 2002.
His lawyers have successfully delayed the hearing until now. They failed in court today to have this Friday hearing stopped after arguing that the singer cannot possibly have a fair trial based on the news coverage their client has been given.
"Trails should be tried in the courtroom, not the newsroom," assistant State Attorney Mary Boland later said.
The case has attracted reporters from all over the world. Journalists from France and England have flown in to write about the case.
