72-year-old Country star Glen Campbell has recorded a new album of contemporary songs by the likes of Foo Fighters, Green Day, Travis, U2 and the Replacements.
The album 'Meet Glen Campbell' sounds like the legendary country star is trying to tackle a similar audience to the one Johnny Cash gathered up for his American Recordings series with Rick Rubin. For 'Meet Glen Campbell', Glenn has covered Foo Fighters 'Times Like These', Green Day's 'Good Riddance (Time Of My Life), U2' 'All I Want Is You' and 'Sing' by Travis.
"I really like all of the songs and I had a great time recording them. While I didn't write these songs, this sounds like a Glen Campbell album, which is important to me," Campbell said in a statement.
The album was produced by Julian Raymond (Rosanne Cash, Wallflowers). "I've been listening to Glen since I was nine years old, so making this record is an honor and a dream come true. I am incredibly proud of this project," he said.
Chris Chaney from Janes Addiction and Robin Zander of Cheap Trick play on the record.
