What a great day for Aussie country star Kasey Chambers and her husband Shane Nicholson. Their 'Rattlin' Bones' has debuted at number one in Australia.
The album had a clear lead at number one, selling 8965 units and beating Mariah Carey's 'E=MC2' by around 1700.'Rattlin' Bones' is also the first album for Kasey and Shane through Michael Gudinski's Liberation Records. Kasey was previously with EMI. Shane's albums had come out on Warner.
'Rattlin' Bones' was recorded at Nash Chambers studio on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Nash is Kasey's brother. Kasey's father Bill plays guitar in her band.
Her last album was 'Carnival' in 2006. It was her 4th solo album and was certified platinum.
Kasey has also recorded for the family band, The Dead Ringer Band. The Dead Ringer Band featured her mother Diane and father Bill, as well as brother Nash, but the band broke up when Diane and Bill split in 1998.
Shane has released three albums. The first was with his high-school band Pretty Violet Stain. In 2003, he released 'It's A Movie' and in 2006, 'Faith and Science'.
Shane also featured on the Cold Chisel tribute album 'Standing On The Outside Looking In - The Songs of Cold Chisel'. He covered 'Cheap Wine'.
