Elvis Costello has released his new album 'Momofuku' on vinyl because he says "this is how it sounds best'.
In a posting at his website, Costello explains that the album was made so quickly that "I didn't even tell myself about it for a couple weeks".Despite a New York restaurant taking credit for the title after claiming Costello was a regular, Elvis says the 'Momofuku' title is actually a reference to the man who invented the Cup Noodle, Momofuku Ando.
"Now, I understand that there is also a fancy eatery in New York City that has made the same connection with Ando-San," he says. "So, just in case anybody is inclined to mistake our record for something edible, we've added a disclaimer to the record jacket. I like saying, "record jacket" again".
The album will include 'Song With Rose' which he co-wrote with Roseanne Cash and 'Pardon Me, Madam, My Name Is Eve', a title Loretta Lynn gave him.
'Momofuku' is available now on vinyl from Costello's website. The album comes with instructions on how to also download the album. A CD version will follow on May 6.
