KD Lang was given presidential treatment at the expense of Victorian taxpayers after receiving a police escort from Melbourne airport so that she could make a television appearance on time.
Lang's flight from Perth had been delayed and the singer was looking like missing the show. Upon arrival at Melbourne airport, the police escorted her from the plane and to the studios in South Melbourne.The incident has been described by the shadow police minister Andrew McIntosh as 'a waste of resources'.
KD Lang is reported not to have been responsible for the request for the special treatment.
An investigation into how police resources at taxpayer expense were used to escort the singer will be underway today.
