Seattle indie label Sub Pop is celebrating more than 20 years in the biz with a huge bash in July.
The label will host three days of live entertainment, including a night of comedy on July 11.On July 12 and 13, it will be back to the old grunge sounds with a festival in Marymoor Park in Redmond.
The festival will bring out old Seattle bands that haven't been active in a long time including Green River. Green River featured Jeff Ament, who went on to form Mother Love Bone and then Pearl Jam.
Other acts due to appear are Beachwood Sparks, The Fluid, Seaweed and Red Red Meat.
Sub Pop was the original label for Nirvana, Soundgarden and Mudhoney.
Before it was a label, the company was originally a magazine called Subterranean Pop and Olympia resident Bruce Pavitt.
The magazine began issuing cassettes of local bands with each issue and by 1986, released the first LP, the compilation Sub Pop 100.
Pavitt left the company in 1996. It is now 49% owned by Warner Music.
After all these years, the label only boasts one platinum album, Nirvana's 'Bleach'.
