Former Go-Betweens founder Robert Forster is about to release his landmark album 'The Evangelist'.
The album will be his first solo album since 1996's 'Warm Nights' but also his first new music since the death of his friend and Go-Betweens co-founder Grant McLennan. The Go-Betweens reached their popular peak in 1988 and then suddenly broke-up.
In 2000, McLennan and Foster started recording again as the Go-Betweens and released the three albums 'The Friends of Rachel Worth' (2000), 'Bright Yellow Bright Orange' (2003) and 'Oceans Apart' (2005).
'Oceans Apart' earned the band their first industry recognition, an ARIA Award for Best Adult Contemporary Album.
But then tragedy struck. On May 6, 2006, Grant McLennan died of a heart attack in his sleep at his home in Brisbane. He was 48.
Forster declared the Go-Betweens was officially over.
The new album pays tribute to McLennan. Three of the songs on the album were co-written by Grant shortly before he died.
'The Evangelist' will be released next weekend (April 26).
