Former Midnight Oil frontman, now The Hon. Peter Garrett, Federal Minister for the Environment, Heritage and The Arts will be the keynote speaker at Song Summit Sydney (S3) next week.
In a statement, Garrett said, "The act of creating a work like a song through the hard labour of imagination gives up something special which at one end entertains, at the other, feeds the soul. And in the case of the Australian music industry along the way provides a unique reflection of our ideals, our values and of course fuel for our economy."APRA/AMCOS Ceo Brett Cottle added, "Mr Garrett has a keen awareness of not only the cultural value of music, but also its significant social and economic value. S3 delegates will have an unparalleled opportunity to hear Mr Garrett, one of Australia's leading songwriters, discuss the importance and the future of the Arts and music, within a political framework."
Peter Garrett will give his keynote speech on Thursday April 3 at the conference in Sydney at the Hordern Pavilion.
This is the first annual Song Summit Sydney, presented by APRA/AMCOS ad supported by the NSW Government.
Registrations for the three day event are limited and are now open.
