Queen guitarist Brian May has been made a Chancellor at Liverpool's John Moores University.
May, an astronomer in this alternate life, will act as ambassador of the faculty across the UK.According to the Liverpool Echo, the guitarist was made a honorary fellow by the University last year for his contribution to the scientific study of the universe.
He will receive his honour on April 14 in Liverpool at St George Hall.
Meanwhile, Queen's announcement of a 2008 tour with Paul Rodgers as singer has caused May to apologize to the places they won't be going.
At his official website, brianmay.com, May says sorry to Argentina, Australia, The Baltics, Belfast, Canada, Chile, Cornwell, Croatia, Denmark, Doncaster, Dublin, Finland, Greece, Indonesia, Ipswich, Japan, Manchester, New Zealand, various states of North America, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Sardinia, Sheffield, Singapore, Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine.
In a posting at his website, May adds, "and anyone else who feels neglected ... for not Queen + PR NOT announcing a tour date near enough to your arm-chairs. You know ... I didn't realise we would be upsetting so many people ... maybe it's best if we forget the whole thing .... ! ;-)"
The new Queen album will be released on September 1. Queen + Paul Rodgers will start their tour on September 16 in Moscow.
