Elvis Costello will completely bypass the CD format for his next album. Costello has announced that the forthcoming album 'Momofuku' will be only released as a digital download and on vinyl.
Fans buying the vinyl version of the album will be given a code to access the digital download. The name of the album may refer to a resturant in New York. Rolling Stone writer Brian Hiatt went right to the source and asked the chef at the Momofuku Noodle Bar if Costello was a fan of the East Village foodery.
"We've heard he's a fan of the restaurant, but I doubt he'd name his album after us," says Chang told Hiatt for Rolling Stone. "That would be too weird. It blows my mind. There's just no way! He's Elvis Costello, for Christ's sake!"
Costello's 'Momofuku' will be released on April 22nd.
Costello's first 11 albums from 'My Aim Is True' to 'King Of America' will also be released digitally throughout May.
