The New Musical Express awards at London's O2 Arena should have heralded a new lease of life for the indie rock weekly but backstage at the lavish award show media rumours of dropping circulation figures emerged.
After seeing Klaxons, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs and Manic Street Preachers take to the stage the magazine's circulation figures for the second half of 2007 paint a different picture.Currently averaging 64,000 per issue they have hit an all time low.
Recent years have seen NME diversify online, on TV, at festivals and branded tours, and industry insiders speculate the mag could be nearing its end in its current format.
IPC have responded by announcing yet another revamp.
