Linda Perry is suing Warner Music Group for lost royalties and damages over James Blunt's 'Back To Bedlam' album.
Perry owns Custard records and signed Blunt to the label that was then released through Warner Music. She filed the lawsuit in New York this week and is seeking damages of $5million plus lost royalties for the album that sold more than 11million units globally.
Perry signed Blunt after seeing him at SXSW.
Her suit states "Atlantic's wrongdoing follows the far too familiar scenario involving a large multinational corporate record company which takes advantage of a small, independent production company."
She was a former rock star before becoming a executive. Perry was the lead singer for 4 Non Blondes, best known for the hit 'What's Up'.
After the demise of 4 Non Blondes, she released some solo albums to less success.
At the time that her own recording career stalled, her new career as songwriter to the stars took off.
Perry has written hits for Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani and is the genius behind Pink.
