Oscar favourite Cate Blanchett has lost out to outside hope Tilda Swinton for the Best Supporting Oscar award at the Academy Awards.
Blanchett's portrayal of Bob Dylan in 'I'm Not There' was expected to be a sure thing for the award but it didn't happen.Cate lost to Tilda who played opposite George Clooney in the thriller Michael Clayton.
Early in the event, Cate also missed out on the Best Actress award. That went to Marion Cotillard for her role as Edith Piaf in 'La Vie En Rose'.
