Peter Noble's Byron Bay based AIM records has won a Grammy, the first ever for an Australian Indie label.
Aim won Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album for Terrance Simien's Live Worldwide album."This is the first time a completely independent Australian record label has ever won a Grammy, so we're absolutely over the moon and thrilled for Terrance who has worked so hard in furthering the popularity of Zydeco music," said Aim Records CEO, and Bluesfest director Peter Noble.
AIM is totally independent and has no affiliation with any major label anywhere in the world.
The Grammy is a double win for Simien. He and his wife had to lobby to get Zydeco listed as a category. The Grammy Awards have had an Hawaiian Guitar award and a Polka award but never a zydeco or cajun category", Noble tells Undercover News. Terence and his wife had to lobby to get the category. Before this, they were folded in 'folk'. He deserves to win this. He is being nominated for the category he helped create".
AIM was also nominated for a Best Tropical Latin Grammy for Cubanismo's 'Greetings From Havana'.
