Heath Ledger was given a send-off that he would have been proud of. Family and friends held a beach party in his honour after his funeral service in Perth yesterday (Saturday, February 9th).
The memorial service was attended by somewhere between 300 and 500, according to various reports. The crowd featured many famous faces, including Heath's 'I'm Not There' co-star Cate Blanchett, who read the eulogy. Ledger's former girlfriend, and mother of his 2 year old daughter Matilda, read Shakespeare's Sonnet 18. Matilda did not attend the service.
Music played at the wake included Powderfinger's 'These Days'; Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here'; The White Stripes 'Seven Nation Army'; and Stevie Wonder's 'Superstition'.
Heath was cremated at Fremantle Cemetery. Fremantle Cemetery is also the final resting place for AC/DC singer Bon Scott.
