Usher has officially made the transition from R&B performer to stage actor, with his debut performance on Broadway last Tuesday evening.
Usher played the role of attorney Billy Flynn in 'Chicago', the character famously portrayed by Richard Gere in the 2002 film.MTV reported that the performance went off without a hitch, and that Usher's only awkward moment occurred when he was pitted against a ringtone of Cassie's 'Me & U', after an audience member failed to turn off their mobile phone.
Usher seemed to garner universal praise from his performance, with Broadway veteran Bianca Marroquin telling MTV, "We're so impressed, so proud, we can't wait to see what else he's gonna do."
The man himself was relieved and proud, saying "I got a great response my first night. I'm happy I could share this moment with so many great people. Of course, you have opening-night jitters on anything you do, especially Broadway."
