The debut album for 22 year old X-Factor winner Leona Lewis has been bolstered with a crack team of songwriters.
Music industry veteran Clive Davies, who is overseeing the project, has called in Akon and Ne-Yo to give the album some credibility and to "Americanize" the product.Lewis is currently recording two new tracks for the US release. 'Forgive Me' was written by Akon and 'Misses Glass' is from Madd Scientist and RockCity.
Lewis has also recorded a cover of the Ewan MacColl song 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face', first made famous by Roberta Flack. (Ewan was the late Kirsty MacColl's father).
Considering the amount of reconstruction work going into this album, Leona had a rather bizarre comment. "I wanted to make an album that was totally me," she says. "The lyrics reflect things that I'm really passionate about. I have to be able to put myself in the song for it to ring true to me. If it doesn't ring true to me, it's not going to be believable to anyone else."
'Spirit', the debut album from Leona Lewis will be released on April 8.
