A Bon Jovi Greatest Hits album somehow beats the new Susan Boyle album to number one in this week’s chart wrap.
There have been some odd number ones this year, but who would’ve predicted that a Bon Jovi Greatest Hits would top the charts in a week that Susan Boyle’s second album was released?
But that’s what has happened this week on the ARIA Weighted Album Charts, with 310 sales separating the two: 14,475 to 14,165.
Jessica Mauboy’s Get ‘Em Girls debuted at number six, edged out by Taylor Swift, Kings Of Leon, and the seemingly evergreen Angus & Julia Stone.
James Blunt debuted at eleven, Cee-Lo Green popped in at 24, Ne-Yo’s Libra Scale underperformed at 36, Viva Elvis debuted at 45 and N*E*R*D were also sluggish at 55.
Other debuts include Escape The Fate (58), INXS’s reworked hits Original Sin (65), The John Steel Singers (67), Underoath (74), Cradle Of Filth (89), and The Baseballs (90).
The ARIA Awards also helped bump up the performers’ sales this week.
The biggest rise of the week was a live album of the Big Four of Thrash: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. The Big Four: Live from Sofia, Bulgaria rocketed from 1144 to 71.
The biggest drop of the week was Melbourne rapper Illy, whose The Chase debuted at 25 but this week clung on to number 96 in the top 100.
