Once again, Guns 'n' Roses 'Chinese Democracy' is reported to be finished.
The decade-long overdue album from Axl Rose and his new band of buddies is once again being talked about for release, but this time, the Radiohead model is being suggested as an option.Rose is said to have been impressed by the impact the Radiohead 'In Rainbows' album had via the publicity generated for the band's pay-what-you-want stunt. That album, which was first going to be a download only, soon became a physical release.
Other news suggests that Guns 'n' Roses is out of contract with Universal and free to release the album any way Rose wants.
That can't be true. Universal has sunk more than $15 million into an album that has never surfaced. It is unlikely they'll just let Rose walk away and hand it to someone else.
The 'Chinese Democracy' album title was first announced 15 years ago. Rose has been performing tracks from the album ever since 2000.
The current status for a release is "mid year".
