The track-listing for the 14th R.E.M. album 'Accelerate' has been revealed by the band.
The 11 track album features 'I'm Gonna DJ', a song first heard by most fans on last year's live album.'Accelerate' is R.E.M.'s first studio album since 'Around The Sun' from 2004.
R.E.M. is hoping for a hit with 'Accelerate' after a decade of declining sales.
Since 1991's 'Out Of Time' and 1994's 'Monster' it has been a downhill slide for the band. Both of those albums sold more than 4 million.
After that, 'New Adventures In Hi-Fi' from 1996 did 994,000; 1998's 'Up' was down with 664,000 units; 'Reveal' from 2001 became the first R.E.M. album to fall short of Gold on 415,000 units and the last album 'Around The Sun' stalled at 232,000 units.
It is no wonder that the band is talking up 'Accelerate' as the new 'Monster'. 'Monster' was the last of the guitar driven R.E.M. records. 'Accelerate' is expected to be a return to rock.
