Dr. Phil is a sorry man this week. The celebrity shrink now admits he did the wrong thing is talking after Britney's condition to the media.
I definitely think if I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't make any statement at all. Period," he said in a statement.Phil McGraw was totally out of line when he used Britney Spears' latest breakdown as a publicity stunt for himself. After going to the hospital to visit the broken down singer, Phil came outside and blabbed it all to the press.
This has now lead to even further problems for the TV star. For starters, he is not a registered psychologist in California. A complaint has now been filed against him for violating the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. He is alleged to have violated doctor-patient privilege by openly discussing Britney's treatment.
Phil maintains he was at the hospital as a friend, not as a doctor.
As he isn't registered as a doctor in California, he is unlikely the claims against him will go any further than just threats.
Phil has used Britney for his own self-publicity for some time. Last year, he went on the Letterman show and talked about how he would handle her as a doctor.
Phil's apology will air on his TV show in the US next week.
