Snoop Dogg's eighth album, 'Tha Blue Carpet Treatment', is scheduled for a November release.
The album is said to be a deviation from Snoop's commercially minded 2004 release, the modestly titled 'R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta) The Masterpiece'. That album's hit single, 'Drop It Like It's Hot', featured Pharrell, who returns to produce 'Vato', the lead single for '...Treatment'.The single sees Snoop return, to the streets, and sets the mood for the grittier, socially conscious, back-to-basics album. 'Tha Blue Carpet Treatment' features production from Dr Dre, Timbaland, Rick Rock, Pharrell, with guest appearances by Stevie Wonder, Ice Cube, The Game, Brandy, R. Kelly, and MC Eight.
Featuring B Real from Cypress Hill, 'Vato' is a plea for unity between Americans of African and Hispanic descent. Snoop Dogg says, "It's about time we start to fight for each other rather than fighting against each other. I have homies from all cultural backgrounds and love all of my brothers, black and brown. There is nothing that can stop us from creating a better future for ourselves, for our families and generations to come if we all came together."
The video, which features rapper Kid Frost and Oscar-nominated actor Edward James Olmos, will make its debut at the end of August on BET's Access Granted.
