Brisbane new-wave screamo clique The Scare set up big things in their adopted UK home.
The fashionable five-piece shifted base to the UK in January 2006 after promising beginnings in Australia, including Homebake and Taste of Chaos slots and major international supports.Talking to Drowned In Sound in March, bassist Wade Keighran said "Australia only has five big cities where you can play and have a good time. You can play rural areas a lot but it's really just not worth your while. With a five-date tour you can only do it so many times a year before you just get really bored."
By May the band were travelling on the Kerrang Most Wanted tour and played the Great Escape festival. In July they released the acclaimed 'Vaccuum Irony' EP in the UK on Kill Your Own Pets/Nomadic and set off for a tour with Disco Ensemble and Brigade. At the end of August they play twelve shows in twelve days and have already planned Ireland dates in September.
To sample our ex-pats scattered electro-screamo (sounding much like Blood Brothers, no matter how much they deny it), download their 'If I'm Choking, Make A Scene' from their myspace.
